Scientific Name: Geomyda spengleri
Range: Southeast Asia
Habitat: Forest floor, near streams
Natural Diet: Aquatic and terrestrial invertebrates
Zoo Diet: Fruit, vegetables, worms and crickets
Physical 
Characteristics:
Black-breasted leaf turtle shells can grow up to five inches in length. They have large eyes that seem to stick out from their head. They also have a prominent beak.
Behavior: Black-breasted leaf turtle live on the forest floor among the fallen leaves. Here they search for grubs, worms, or even decaying fruit. They will also go into nearby streams, looking for aquatic nymphs (the larval form of certain insects).
Reproduction: Black-breasted leaf turtle produce their eggs from June to August each year.
Notes:   Black-breasted leaf turtle are threatened due to habitat destruction and over-collection. They are also used in Traditional Chinese Medicine, and are often sold as pets.
