Begin your adventure in the Australia Welcome Center where kids can burrow like a wombat or climb into a kangaroo’s pouch, while encountering incredible Down Under creatures like the carpet python and the water dragon.

Next, immerse yourself (not literally!) in our Great Barrier Reef where you will find clown fish, eels, puffer fish, and more amid the coral in this 20,000-gallon aquarium. The 50,000 gallon shark aquarium includes blacktip reef sharks, zebra sharks, and epaulette sharks. Two 500-gallon jellyfish tanks provide a glimpse into the watery world of these very delicate and dangerous creatures.
After exploring the aquarium, take a break on the Australian plaza where you might encounter K’Zoo, the zoo’s one-of-a-kind mascot, a live animal show, or find a shady spot to relax as the kids dip into the fountain. You’ll find a full service Dairy Queen restaurant and restroom facilities on the plaza, too.
Continue your adventure in the Australia After Dark nocturnal house where you will spy striped possum, spiny echidnas, and fruit bats as they go about their “day” in the dark.
An Australian Adventure wouldn’t be complete without a trip down river on the River Ride so, relax and enjoy the trip with kids of all ages!
Next, open the door to Australia’s feathery finest as you explore the Walkabout Aviary. Look for cockatiels, parrots, lorikeets, egrets, kookaburras, and more. Be sure to stop and see the Parma wallaby also located in the aviary.
Finally, mix with our mob of eastern grey kangaroo. You might just cross paths with one sunning itself as black swans swim in the billabong. And don’t miss a glimpse of the dingoes hiding in the tall grass as you conclude your Australian Adventure.
This 4-acre, easily-accessible exhibit is full of fun and was recently named the “Best Australian Animal Exhibit” by Allen W. Nyhuis and Jon Wassner, authors of America's Best Zoos, in 2008.
