Great Zoo Halloween Offers
“Merry-not-Scary” Fun
Pumpkins, animals, and a friendly witch will take
center stage when the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo
celebrates the 31st annual Great Zoo Halloween from
October 16-31.
The zoo is transformed into a pumpkin paradise for
this “merry-not scary” event. Children are invited
to trick-or-treat around the zoo grounds, where they
receive goodies at nine treat stations. Ten to 12
tons of pumpkins and gourds – many of them decorated and
carved – adorn the zoo pathways.
Guests can enjoy several new features at the Great
Zoo Halloween this year:
- Mystery Maze and Mini-Maze
- Talk with Broomhilda the Witch
- Great Barrier Reef Aquarium open
- See real bats in Australia After Dark
- Enjoy farm animals in the Big Red Barn
- Pumpkin Bowling
- Hot Eats and Cool Treats in the Australian
Adventure Dairy Queen
Thousands of volunteers from the community assist
with the setup and operation of the Great Zoo Halloween.
Thanks to these generous sponsors for their support
of the Great Zoo Halloween: Bob Evans; Dairy Queen;
Ellison Bakery; Lutheran Health Network; National City
Bank; Parkview Health; Roller Dome; Three Rivers Federal
Credit Union; and Ultrazone.
The zoo closes for the regular season on October 11.
The Great Zoo Halloween is open October 16-31 from 6:00
– 8:00 pm weeknights; 5:00 – 8:00 pm Saturdays and
Sundays. Admission is $7 for children; $5 for
adults. Halloween carnival-style games cost an
additional $1 each. The Eerie Express Train Ride, which
takes visitors into the “haunted” woods of Franke Park,
costs an additional $2 per person.
