Zoo Hosts Author of America’s Best Zoos

The Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo will host Jon Wassner, co-author of America’s Best Zoos, for a book signing event Saturday, June 13 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in the African Journey. 

In the book, which was published in 2008, Wassner and co-author Allen Nyhuis offer their opinions on zoos around the country and recommend the best exhibits in dozens of categories.  They ranked the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo’s Australian Adventure as the best Australian exhibit in the country. 

Books will be available for sale in the African Journey Marketplace gift tent during the event. 

The all-new $9.2 million African Journey opened to the public on Saturday.

The Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo is one of the area’s major attractions and was recently named one of the country’s “Ten Best Zoos for Kids” by Parents magazine.

The zoo is open every day from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from until October 11.  Admission is $12.00 for adults, $8.00 for children age 2-14 and $10.00 for seniors over age 60.  Babies age 1 and under and Zoo Society Members are admitted free.
