Offer Free “Sneak Previews”
for Homeschool
Families March 14
(Fort Wayne) More than 20 local
agencies will offer homeschool families a sampling of their programs at
Homeschool Sneak Preview Day Friday, March 14 from 9:00
a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Main Branch of the Allen County Public
Library. The program is free and open to the public.
A menu of 20-minute workshops will be
offered all morning, giving homeschool families a sampling of
educational programs from local organizations. Among the agencies
included are the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo, Science Central, The Lincoln
Museum, Allen County Public Library, the Harold W. McMillen Center for
Health Education, local parks, scouting programs, environmental centers,
and programs for the arts.
“We’re thrilled to bring all these
agencies together to showcase the resources available to homeschool
families,” says Mary Voors, Manager of Children’s Services for the Allen
County Public Library. “Our community has a rich variety of resources,
and we want to help families take advantage of those services, many of
which are free.”
Homeschool families with children of
all ages are welcome. Participants may register the day of the event
from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. Workshops will run on the half-hour from 9:30
a.m. until 12:30 p.m. All who register will be eligible for door
prizes, which will be distributed at a 12:30 p.m. drawing. The library
is located at 900 Library Plaza in downtown Fort Wayne. Parking is free
in the library’s outdoor lot or underground garage with an Allen County
