Animal Enrichment Workshops
Adults, children, families, and groups can assist in creating objects to stimulate animals’ interest and encourage natural behaviors at an Animal Enrichment Workshop.

Individuals need not register ahead of time and no previous training is required; just arrive at 10:00 a.m. ready to work. Group leaders should call the zoo’s Volunteer Office at 260-427-6828 at least one week in advance, with the ages and number of people in the group.

All workshop materials are provided. Participants may want to wear old clothes. No application or training is required. All children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult (a scout or group leader, parent, or guardian.)  Because it is a community service opportunity, the Animal Enrichment Workshop does not include zoo admission.

FrogWatch USA
Join our grassroots conservation program! FrogWatch USA is a citizen science program that allows individuals andgirl with frog families to learn about the wetlands in their communities and help conserve amphibians by reporting the calls of local frogs and toads.   Amphibian populations are indicators of ecosystem health, and they are in decline nationwide.  By collecting meaningful data, we can help scientists better understand our hopping green friends.
.
All are welcome to attend one of our FrogWatch USA trainings.  Families, adults, teens, groups - anyone can help gather important information about amphibians in the Fort Wayne area and contribute to real conservation efforts!

At a training class, you'll learn how to identify frogs by their calls.  You'll then visit local wetlands on your own to collect data about the frogs and toads present.
Choose a training to attend:
Tuesday, March 13   5:30-9:30 pm
or
Saturday, March 17   1:00-5:00 pm

Training classes will be held at the Diehm Museum classroom.  There is no fee to attend.  To register for the training or get more information, contact the Zoo Volunteer Office at 260-427-6828 or volunteer@kidszoo.org.  You'll be a part of real effort to preserve the natural wonders in your own back yard.
