Zoo Keeper's Photo Wins National Honors

East African Crowned Crane
This photo of Rocky the crowned crane won national honors for zoo keeper Miqueas Corrall.

When 22-year-old Miqueas Corral learned that a photo he submitted to a national contest was a winner, he was shocked.  "It really took me by surprise," said Corral.

Corral's photo of Rocky, the zoo's crowned crane, received Honorable Mention in a nationwide photo contest sponsored by the American Zoo & Aquarium Association (AZA).  The AZA is the professional organization that accredits zoos in the United States.

A 2004 graduate of Adams Central High School, Corral has worked at the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo for two years.  He's currently a keeper in the African Journey.  "It's definitely exciting to work in Africa with all the new construction and new animals," he said.  In the future, Corrall hopes to combine working with animals with his love of photography.
