African Journey Opens Saturday!

The wait is over!  The $9 million African Journey opens to the public on Saturday, June 6.  After a brief 9:30 a.m. Ribbon Cutting ceremony, the new exhibit will take zoo guests on a brand-new adventure at the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo.

Don't miss these highlights: Baby swamp monkey Anderson, born January 8 Climb in the authentic Land Rover Great white pelicans swimming on the lake Meet hyenas Grubbie and Askari Explore the kopje rock formations and caves Say hello to Bill the lion and Ina the lioness Take your photo in the kid-size tents Tap out a beat on the African drums Enjoy refreshments in the African Village See the majestic griffon vultures Feed a giraffe (weather and giraffe appetites permitting) Peer through a telescope at a nest Zoom in on zebras with the Savannah Cam ...and more!

June 5	African Journey Preview for Zoo Members Only 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Show your Membership Card and a Photo ID at the zoo entrance and get your hand stamped for access to the African Journey.  Last admission 7:00 p.m.  African Journey grounds and Sky Safari remain open until 8:00 p.m.; remainder of zoo grounds and rides close at 6:00 p.m. as usual. Hours and Prices

The zoo is open every day from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. until October 11, 2009.  The African Journey exhibit opens on June 6.

Admission is $12.00 for adults, $8.00 for children age 2-14 and $10.00 for seniors age 60 and over. Babies age one and under and Zoo Society Members are admitted free.
