Creature Features

Creature Features Sea Lion Feeding
Creature Features begins Saturday.

The zoo's popular Creature Features program is back! Join the fun as our zoo keepers share the "inside scoop" on your favorite animals at presentations every day of the week.

New chats include the African Journey Chat, where keepers will tell you about the new African animals coming in 2009, and more Amazing Animals Live Shows on the Australian Adventure Plaza. Old favorites like the Orangutan Chat, Dive Chat, and Bat Chat return for another season.

ScottsLocal Scott's and Kroger stores - along with their fantastic customers - have done it again! Officials from Kroger announced the results of their Zoo Day promotions and presented a check for $94,019 to the zoo on Tuesday!Kroger The check represents 3% of store sales on Zoo Day May 14, along with direct donations from store customers.

The donation will help feed the zoo's 1,500 animals for about six months. "We are thrilled with the support we have received from Kroger and Scott's this year," says Zoo Director Jim Anderson.

Celebrate the Year of the Frog on Thursday.

Celebrate the Year of the Frog Thursday, June 12

Did you know that many frogs, toads, and other amphibians are in danger of becoming extinct? Hop on over and help us celebrate the Year of the Frog with special activities and games highlighting ways you can help our croaky friends. All activities run from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and are FREE with zoo admission.

It's Time for Tropicals!

You know it's summer when a truckload of huge tropical plants arrives at the zoo gate! Every year, teams from the Parks and Recreation Department greenhouses deliver gigantic potted tropicals to decorate the zoo grounds. The plants spend the winter at the greenhouse then add the finishing touch to the zoo's lush landscaping in the summer months. Look for the philodendrons, bird of paradise, and other exotic greenery on your next visit.

 


 

Hours and Prices

The zoo is open everyday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is $9.50 for adults, $6.50 for children age 2-14 and $8.50 for seniors age 60 and over. Babies age one and under and Zoo Society Members are admitted free.
