Sky Safari gets a Thumbs Up!

A crowd of more than 100 people cheered as the first Sky Safari
riders were lifted into the air when the ride opened on June 1.
Kids used words like “cool” and “awesome” to describe the experience
of riding 38 feet above the ground. Adults enjoyed the cool summer
breeze and the chance to get off their feet! Everyone liked the great
view of the African Journey as it takes shape down below.
“It’s been 13 years since we added a new ride to the zoo,” says Zoo
Director Jim Anderson. “We are very excited to bring this experience to
our visitors.”
Plan to ride Indiana’s only Sky Safari on your next visit!

See
the new Magpie-Jays
A pair of black-throated magpie-jays recently moved in next door to
the macaws. These noisy, active birds are fun to watch as they hop from
perch to perch. Native to Mexico, these cousins of the blue jay are
intelligent and social. They'll eat almost anything found in the forest,
from small animals to berries and flower nectar.
Magpie jays work together when they spot a predator. They'll gang up
and harass the predator until it goes away.
