Animals Love Pumpkins, Too!
It’s not only trick-or-treaters who will enjoy the 37,000 pounds of
pumpkins and gourds that adorn the zoo during the Great Zoo Halloween.
While most of orange vegetables are painted, carved or are used in
displays, some pumpkins are given to the animals as enrichment items to
stimulate play and activity. The orangutans, tigers, and kangaroos are
just a few of the critters that are enjoying pumpkins this week!
